Last weekend we headed back to ONU for homecoming. Unfortunately the weather was cold so we all bundled up and enjoyed being back at the place that holds so many good memories.
A lot has changed since we went back to ONU for homecoming 4 years ago. For starters, little old Ada now has a McDonald's. And our drive to ONU has changed for the better: Route 30 is a real highway all the way from 71 with an exit straight to Ada. Gone are the days of being stuck behind a semi or slowing down for little towns with speed traps - what a great thing!
Once we arrived at ONU we put on our winter coats and headed to the football field for some games, rides, food, and the football game. I love this little hat that Trey used to wear - it makes Xavier look like a cute little winter baby.
Trey loved the Scrambler but it was definitely a cold ride as it went around and around and around :-)
We only lasted at the football game for about a quarter - but it was enough time to visit the polar bear at the end of the field.
After sticking out as much of the cold as we could we headed back to the hotel to warm up a little. I finally got a picture of Xavier in his ONU spirit wear!
After enjoying the pool and hot tub at the hotel we headed back to ONU to enjoy one of our favorites: Padrone's! Mmmmm - I can still taste those delicious bread sticks!
After dinner we headed to the hot air balloon glow which was inside this year. Because it was so windy they moved the balloon inside and inflated it with a fan and let everyone actually go inside the balloon. After the seeing the balloon we ended the night with fireworks on the tundra.
We had a great time taking the kids back to ONU despite the cold. Hopefully we'll get back again sooner than four years from now (and hopefully the weather will cooperate a little more the next time) :-)
