Tuesday marked Xavier's 8 week birthday with us and his 8-week doctor appointment. I had been both looking forward to this appointment to find out how big our little man had grown and dreading it because I knew he would be getting his first big round of vaccinations.
Xavier handled the first shot just fine...it was the second and third that just made my poor little man scream. I did find it interesting that the doctor remarked it is never the first shot that they react to...but the second one that really gets them! His open mouth did make it easy for the doctor to give him his forth oral vaccination and as soon as I picked Xavier up he stopped crying (which is something big brother Trey has yet to master after his shots). Needless to say, Xavier & I weathered this appointment just fine and I don't have think about any more shots for another 2 months :-)
Trey also knew Xavier was going to the doctor and getting shots this day. However, I don't think Trey realized he wouldn't be there to witness the shots happen. When I picked Trey up from school he wanted to know if he could see Xavier get his shots - I explained I had already taken him and after that all Trey wanted to do was see Xavier's band aides and know where he got each shot. He found it hilarious to know the doctor had given him one of those shots in his little behind! Oh the humor of a 4-year-old! Trey will be happy to find out he actually gets to go to Xavier's next appointment as it is in July and he will be home for the summer :-)
And finally a picture of our growing guy - I dressed Xavier up in his baptismal outfit one last time (it just barely fits!) to try and capture a good picture of him in it for the memory book. He was pretty cooperative for a few minutes!

I still can't get over how much he looks like his big brother.
