Baby Steps to Christmas

We take a very relaxed, slow approach to getting the house ready for the holidays. This year - as for the past 2-3 years - Chas took advantage of some of the nice weather we've been having lately to decorate the outside of the house with lights before it was freezing cold or raining or snowing. We've noticed quite a few of our neighbors doing the same thing this year come to think of it.

Anyway - I think he did a beautiful job! When I pulled up the driveway after starting a little Christmas shopping my jaw hit the ground - my awesome hubby definitely outdid himself this year! Trey thinks so too - as soon as he saw them he said, "Santa will like the lights. They will help Santa find our house". We don't have these on yet...we'll wait until after Thanksgiving - but its good to know that it is done.

And this week we've started the multi-night task of putting up the Christmas tree. It seems early...but we're always out of town the whole weekend of Thanksgiving. We'd rather not wait until the week/weekend after Thanksgiving...we want to start enjoying those lights and ornaments ASAP since we only see them for about a month out of the year (and I LOVE our ornament collection!).

Trey loves to be by the tree. He spent 10 minutes just staring at it after school and describing to me what we still need to put on it and what it will look like when it is all done (he is too cute!). While Chas put on the lights tonight, Trey laid under the tree and wrote upper and lower case letters, traced his hands, and wrote "words" and lists to Santa. He's really catching the Christmas spirit (as we all are here in our home!).
