Christmas Cookie Day

Since Trey was a baby (a 3 month old sweet little baby) we started having an annual Christmas cookie baking day with my mom and sister just like we used to do when we were little. Chas & I counted the years we've all gotten together for baking and this year was our 5th year!

This year Trey was a great little helper in the kitchen...but he was an even better taste tester of lots of sprinkles and goodies as we were baking. Aunt Stephie brought over some chocolate-covered treats that Trey couldn't help but try.

Chas had a great idea this year for the oatmeal cookies - half of them had the usual raisins, chocolate chunks, and pecans - but the other half Chas thought to add dried cranberries, white chocolate chips, and macadamia nuts. The new additions were delicious!

After we baked the oatmeal cookies we got started on the cut out sugar cookies. As usual, Trey selected the turkey cookie cutter as his favorite - which also happens to be the biggest cookie cutter we have! Needless to say - we have to limit how many turkeys we make...those cookies will give anyone a sugar overload!

After the cookies were baked it was time to start decorating. Trey loves to dump TONS of sprinkles on his cookies.

If it wasn't for all the adult helpers all those cookies would never get done. We all had lots of laughs decorating around the dining room table.

And Trey and Gam Gam had lots of laughs getting into some sprinkle tubs.

After a LONG day of lots of cookie baking (oatmeal, sugar, PB with kisses, puppy chow, and toffee) we were all exhausted but had lots of great laughs (and cookies) along the way.
